Cool. I can see how many entrepreneurs and aspiring startupists would like this sort of quote because it is oh so contrarian. But just because goes against business norms does not mean that it is worth adopting as the gospel.
Sure, at their basest form projections are just guesses. However, projections are (generally) extremely well-education guesses and when constructed and formulated using the necessary and proper data can be extremely accurate. I realize that these projections cannot take unexpected real-life events into account - but the purpose of a projection is to gain a general idea - it’s not as if the projection has to be the end goal… And perhaps that was exactly the point Mr. Jason was making.
